Happy Diwali
I have not been able to post my entries for Today's Flowers, Odd Shots On Monday and Ruby Tuesday this week as I was busy with Deepavali preparations.
From the next week, I will post as usual.
Have a great week!

Today's Flowers #8
Yellow bells / yellow trumpet flowers photographed in Millennium Towers Complex in Sanpada, Navi Mumbai.
Odd Shots On Monday #9
There are a few of these Odd signs in the green spaces (small spaces developed into garden area) outside Vashi Railway Station. I noticed that no one would really stoop down to reach the outlet there to drink water, when drinking water is freely available at all the food stalls at the station complex.
A closer look at the sign (all of them) revealed that 'sewage'' was spelt 'sawage' which is also odd, because the painting work is often given to people who don't know proper English.
This outlet is hardly a few inches higher than ground level.Tuesday, October 14, 2008
Ruby Tuesday #7
Fortress with a red gate built in honour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Shivaji Maharaj was the famous Maratha (of Maharashtra) king in the 17th century, when India was being ruled by Mughals. An able warrior and leader with far- sightedness, he saw the dangers of foreign domination and acted quickly to control it.

Odd Shots #8
This is Juhu Beach again, where Krrish and I had icecream and Kala-Khatta gola last weekend.
Cows and bulls on the streets is not an uncommon sight here, but this bull was resting right next to the pav bhaji and gola stall. It was surely an odd sight and Krrish wanted to be reassured that it wouldn't attack us while he was gorging on strawberry icecream and me slurrping Kala-Khatta gola.

Ruby Tuesday #6
A shop window at Infiniti Mall in Andheri West. The steel lamp bends over a vase with an interesting set of floral stems. It would've been more beautiful in evening lights. At daytime, I got the shot with the reflection of across the road. If you look carefully, you will see the vase.

Odd Shots On Monday #7
As I walked up the pedestrian path on Palm Beach road, which is built over the railway line and Vashi railway station, I looked down to see the railway line and the greenery near it. I saw this portion of a pipeline on the ground. It was an unexpected sight and also Odd-looking, in the middle
of nowhere.

Ruby Tuesday #5
Bagicha Icecream in Mahabaleshwar is famous for it's strawberry ice cream, strawberry milk shakes and strawberry with cream. The corn pattice here is also very popular.
I couldn't resist posting this one from my last year's visit archives for Ruby Tuesday.

Sweet Hibiscus is an ornamental plant with deep burgundy and garnet eyes. It is an edible plant and has high protein content. The flower petals can be added to salads and the leaves can be cooked like other leafy vegetables (spinach) or added to soups.
Odd Shots On Monday #6
I walked along the highway last week to get some interesting shots of traffic, and saw this odd looking thing from a distance. As I came closer,I realised it was the trunk of an uprooted tree.

Ruby Tuesday #4
This is the lobby of Hotel Pratap Heritage in Mahabaleshwar
(the nearest hill station to Mumbai).
It's tough to click a photo with a little red in it.
This is the best I could get.

Odd Shots On Monday #5
The overhead water tanks of these buildings have been covered with tarpaulin sheets to avoid seepage of rain water into the tanks.
It's odd because it looks like small huts built over the buildings.

Ruby Tuesday #3
This beautiful work of art (I don't know what it is called), made by tiny sized colored tiles greets you at the entrance of all the A-wings (A1 to A9) of Millennium Towers at Sanpada in Navi Mumbai.

Odd Shots On Monday #4
Well, this is not an odd sight in my city. The odd thing is that most people are using the safety grill as an attic. You can see a cooking gas cylinder in this photo.
This one has spare chairs and a table. The space is not intended for such use and spoils the look of the building. And I wonder sometimes if the grill is strong enough to hold one or two (I saw two gas cylinders in the sixth floor grill).

I find this also very odd. The space is meant for storing tools for house-keeeping in an organized manner. But the staff has been filling it with stuff meant for reselling like used deodorant and perfume bottles, old cardboard, thermocol, old wooden doors, sunmica sheets...
